Title: Gender Diversity in U.S. Corporate Boardroom: Theories and Empirical Findings

Description:

Most of us would agree that boards of directors should include more equal numbers of women and men, but we also know that in the U.S. most corporate boards lack gender diversity. What facilitates and what hinders women’s access to corporate boards? This presentation will describe some of the key determinants and obstacles to board gender diversity. In addition, this presentation will offer new empirical evidence to explain the consequences of not having more women on boards of directors and the potential financial performance, environmental, and other organizational outcomes associated with increasing gender diversity on corporate boards.
